Sun Safe

The lovely Easter weather made me think that this is a good opportunity to remind parents of our Sun Safe policy and procedures. At school, we reduce the lunch time so the last 15 minutes are ‘Cool Down time’. All children are required to sit in the shaded areas of the field and use this time to go to the toilet, fill up water bottles and ‘cool down’ before the afternoon sessions. Our shade sail is currently being replaced, after recent storm damage but hopefully should be back for after half term. Many of our PE lessons are in the afternoon, so in the heat, teacher’s will plan to have frequent ‘cool down’ breaks, all children can access water and shade or in some instances alternative activities (but this is left to the teacher’s discretion, once the outside temperature and UV levels are determined). It would help your child in school...

Medication

I know that many children suffer from allergies or hay fever at this time of year, so please can we ask that AN ADULT sign in any ‘emergency’ medication with the school office. We can then administer medication should your child start to suffer during the school day. This also applies to any medication that needs to be given during the school day. Remember that if your child requires access to an asthma pump then they should keep one in their classroom and an emergency pump should be given to the school office for safe keeping. DO NOT send your child to school with medication, all medication needs to be signed in by an ADULT and collected at the end of the day by an ADULT

Uniform Clarification

As it starts to get colder children like to wear trousers and we see Jeggings and leggings. These are fine worn underneath skirts or trousers but they are not part of our school uniform. Grey trousers (light or dark charcoal grey) are part of the uniform. Please also ensure that all uniform is named. We will retrieve, and return to the child, any named uniform; un-named uniform is more difficult!!
