Headteacher update 2nd April 2020

Dear Pupils, parents and carers

Hello again! Have you submitted your Easter Picture yet? Please do so - it would be lovely to see your artwork. The winners will be chosen by an online vote and I’ll also show them in my next newsletter.

Sadly we were not able to do the PSA Easter Egg Hunt this year but hopefully you could do one in your garden or house/flat?  If it’s wet weather perhaps an Indoor Egg Hunt?

Or you could get some cress seeds and make an Easter Cress Head. I’m doing this with my grandson this week, I’ll post a picture on our FB page!

A ParentMail questionnaire was sent out yesterday regarding home learning and how is it going, so we as a school can gauge which families we need to support and which platforms are working successfully. This is just as much a learning game for us as it is for you!

The school closures look more than likely to continue after Easter, so this is what it will look like for parents/ carers and children in terms of our’ Home Learning Package’:

Daily – MM message by the class teacher – Message from Mrs Evans too

Weekly - Staff will be sending out weekly emails of work task – English/Maths and a ‘topic’ grid for other activities for the next 5 weeks. We will send out the weekly class emails on Fridays (so if you need to re-stock supplies and talk to your child about what’s coming up). The first one will be sent out on Friday 17th April 2020, ready for the start of term.

Staff have tried to follow some of their curriculum topics, which they would have covered in the Summer term but also recognise that what you do with your children is also important as well.

We have tried to keep a balance of activities and suggestions. Please don’t feel have to do them all.

We will also be sending out SeeSaw contacts /passwords so Y3/4 can access this software after Easter. Details to follow in the coming weeks.

If you are not able to print off or have access to a computer please can you let the school office on their email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or phone 01462 620555 or text message Mrs Willans or Mrs Kennedy 07529 220197/07422678961  by Friday 3rd April 2020 and we will arrange to print off and post a year group pack.

Internet Safety With all this online and virtual learning at the moment there is a greater need for care and safety responsibilities. Please could I remind all families (children and adults) to be responsible when posting and please be mindful of your post and messages together with the perceived impact it could have on others, at what is a difficult time for all of us. Parents/carers, you are in control of your child’s technology and you must be aware of what is on your child’s phone and what they are posting. Do not allow your child to have their phone in their bedroom. You can’t keep tabs on it and some are posting messages when they should be sleeping!

If you are in doubt about the content and contact with regard to children’s online safety the following link below might be helpful. There is a section for different aged children and parents and carers too:

Again, please remember we are in a ‘lockdown’ situation. Travel must be essential (work and essential trips for food /medical). Adults and children should remember ‘social distancing’, we are practising this at school and the frequent washing of hands for 20 seconds with soap and water. Let’s hope everyone in our school community stays safe and well.

 Mrs Alex Evans
