Road Safety

Last term we elected our new travel Ambassadors. Well done to Lucy Sheldon, Sebastian Afonso Avila, Nana Dwomoh, Lily-Rose Chandler and Isla Clifford for their thought-provoking applications to become Travel Ambassadors. They will be out and about before and after school, as well as encouraging road safety sense in both children and adults. Their role also involves supporting the development of our whole school safer routes to school focus.

At the start of a new school year I would like to inform all our new to Pixmore parents to please avoid parking in the vicinity of the school; as the road outside the school is narrow and there is limited on road parking.

The best place to park is The Central Methodist Church Car Park (Norton Way South) or St Paul’s Church (Baldock Road) Car Park at the beginning and end of school. They are only a short walking distance from the school and relieve congestion around school. Rushby Place (opposite the school) is parking for residents and Robert Humbert is private parking only. Residents get very annoyed if parents take their spaces or block their driveways so please avoid doing this thank you. They have a right to park in this area. Parent/carers do not.

We run our Road Angels and Monsters Campaign to encourage parents to park with care and consideration. Look out for our very own parking monitors, who will be outside school with leaflets which may appear on your car windscreen – are you a parking monster or a parking angel?

Any driving that is dangerous to pedestrians needs to be reported to the police, by ringing 101. Please give details of the make and registration of the car involved, please also let us know at school so we can log the complaint as well. Poor parking or cars are parked on yellow lines needs to be reported to the North Herts District Parking Enforcement Officers. Please keep our children safe and be considerate to our residents as we are all part of one community.
