Year 5 – Week 12

13.07.2020

To Year 5,

Maths

We are continuing to use White Rose Maths home learning this week. The video can be found at https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-5/ The worksheets are in the grid below for Week 12.

Literacy

This week, we will be continuing with the BBC Bitesize literacy lessons. There will be a video or videos to watch and 2-3 activities for your child to complete. In some cases there is a sheet that you can print off (we are unable to do this in school as the daily lessons are not available in advance).

Please complete the daily lessons – follow the instructions on the Home Learning page below to access this website.

If you are struggling to print resources or are finding the BBC Bitesize lessons a bit tedious there are plenty of writing activities on the topic grids you could spend more time on. There are additional resources to support the writing Tasks 1+2 within these grids in the topic area below

Other Subjects

For the last week of term, all the activities in the topic grid will be based on the book ‘Mixed’ by Arree Chung. It is a brilliant book about acceptance and unity, which is a much talked about topic at the moment. You can access the story via this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mn0ep5u0kZo

We would like you to try and choose at least 3 of these activities to complete over the course of this week, one of which needs to be a writing activity.

A typical day may (but does not have to) include…

  • Completing a task from BBC Bitesize website.
  • Completing a lesson of Maths using the White Rose website.
  • Completing one task from the ‘Mixed’ grid.
  • Log any exercise you do to earn points for your house

Transition

Your new and old teachers are looking forward to seeing you in school this week for your transition sessions on either Monday or Tuesday (depending upon which times slots your half of the class has been allocated). Obviously, we do not expect you to do home learning on these days.

We understand that these are extremely, hard times and if you need any further help and support please do get in touch. If the work is too hard, or there is too much, then only complete a manageable amount. If you need printed copies of anything, these can be made available for collection (please let the school know).

We continue to be very proud of you all and miss your lovely smiling faces each day! Remember to look after your mental wellbeing - this always comes first! Stay positive, have fun and just try your best. Never forget – you are fantastic! Well done Year 5!

Sending our very best wishes to you and your families,

Miss Rolfe, Mrs Johnson, Mrs Inman, Mrs Matthews, Mrs Glatzhofer and Miss Hammett
